Voyeur or Collaborator
As we have developed this website over the past several months, many of our conversations
have centered on questions of audience: who is our audience? What do they want? And why
would they want to read this work? None of these questions of have clear or simple answers,
but, in publishing the work of writers who are incarcerated, we have sought to establish a
webpage that creates a context in the writing might be engaged as having its own academic
integrity and human appeal, while also avoiding playing into narratives that might feed the
voyeuristic desires that clearly attracts some readers to such content.
The work published here is meant to be….UNFINISHED, but I WILL finish it this weekend!
