The NYU Prison Education Program is a university-wide initiative across NYU’s undergraduate and professional schools, and a reflection of NYU’s commitment to public service. Leadership for PEP arose from faculty and deans in NYU’s College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. Participating schools include: College of Arts and Science; Gallatin School of Individualized Study; Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development; Silver School of Social Work; Stern School of Business; and the School of Law.
NYU PEP sponsors events and gatherings at Wallkill Correctional Facility, on the Washington Square Campus, and throughout New York City. Our office is located on the Washington Square Campus at 20 Cooper Square, Fourth Floor and is housed with the Department of Social & Cultural Analysis, a department dedicated to advancing progressive interdisciplinary scholarship.
NYU PEP students can transfer their credits, and apply to a degree program, on the Washington Square Campus or beyond at another institution, upon their release from prison.
